Ghanaian Tigo network customers can be topped up by UK residents using MoneyText
Dublin, Ireland: Macalla announces the addition of Tigo mobile to the MoneyText service. MoneyText is the cross-border service brand of leading independent telecoms provider Pal Telecom. MoneyText initially went live with OneTouch in early 2007. Since then it has added 2 further operators; MTN and more recently Tigo.
“This is just the beginning. Mobile is the channel of choice in developing countries. The Ghanian mobile market place alone has grown by over 40% in the last year,” said Mike Taylor, CEO, MoneyText. “I expect Macalla to continue to exceed our expectations as we work with them in the future.”

The process is fully real-time and automated, typically directly from mobile phone to mobile phone. Transactions are completed within a matter of seconds. MoneyText transfers are initiated by donors or by recipient request and can be time-scheduled. Donors pay via reverse billing, debit/credit card or cash through a network of mobile agents.
